ORLANDO -- American Trucking Associations announced the winners of the seventh annual Mike Russell "Good Stuff" Trucking Image Awards, honoring four organizations for their efforts to generate positive awareness of the trucking industry's essential role in the economy and dedication to safety.
"These groups are being honored for their efforts to bolster trucking's prestige in this country," said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. "But more than that, we look forward to their participation in a new and exciting effort to burnish the trucking industry's image.
"ACT I, Chairman Card and a group of industry leaders, over the past year have developed the foundation for an industry-wide image campaign, Trucking Moves America Forward... designed to engage policymakers and the public in learning more about how trucking contributes to the nation's economy, infrastructure, and the everyday lives of all Americans," Graves said. "We hope that as this industry-wide effort rolls out, you and your companies will be a part of it."
This year's winners of the Mike Russell "Good Stuff" Trucking Image Award have all already stepped up to improve the industry's image.
The motor carrier award was given to Diversified Transfer and Storage, who has worked with its state trucking association on a successful program of Share the Road events for teen drivers, led charitable efforts for the National Guard and reserves, and hosted business and political leaders at its facilities to underscore the essentiality of trucking.
Omnitracs was honored as this year's supplier winner for a campaign focused around educating the trucking industry, the media and our policy makers about electronic logging devices.
And finally, two state associations won the award. The Colorado Motor Carriers Association was chosen for their work in a variety of areas including promoting the use of snow chains in the winter, work with Truckers Against Trafficking, safe mountain driving and SmartWay. Similarly, the Nevada Trucking Association was chosen for its work in four broad areas: public policy, community outreach, efforts in the media and among the industry. Hosting legislative days, working with law enforcement, Truckers Against Trafficking and Swoop and Stop, NTA has used a multi-faceted approach in its image program.
The Mike Russell "Good Stuff" Trucking Image Awards are named in honor of the late Mike Russell, a trucking industry supporter and former ATA vice president of public affairs, and are sponsored by TMW Systems.
