Germany-based Daimler Trucks & Buses is launching “Transportation Matters,” which it calls the commercial vehicle industry's first CEO podcast. Martin Daum, member of the Daimler AG board of management responsible for Daimler Trucks & Buses – who will become CEO of Daimler Truck AG on Nov. 11– will be the host. He will use the podcast to discuss with international guests a wide range of topics covering global challenges, business and leadership, social implications, and technological developments, according to the announcement.

According to the OEM, podcast guests will be drawn from all over the world and many walks of life, including Michael Fleming, CEO of Torc Robotics; Joschka Fischer, a former German foreign minister and vice chancellor and now a strategic consultant, and Terry Stotts, head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers.

Daimler noted that Daum and his guestsfrom the fields of business, politics, media and sports will discuss topics “to learn, understand different point of views, create connections, find common ground and thereby work together to drive change.”

"Our business is very diverse and the range of topics is correspondingly broad,” Daum says in the teaser episode. “Some of these are quick to convey. Some need more space to be discussed in the requisite depth. For this deeper dive a podcast is, in our view, the optimal format. It can provide a lot of information, background and different points of view."

The first season of “Transportation Matters” consists of five episodes that will be broadcast in English or in German on the first Wednesday of each month.

Daum’s podcast can be accessed and subscribed to at:
