Gas prices saw an average increase of 5 cents, up to $3.439 from $3.389. Regional prices increased across the board.
Oil prices fell as European leaders disputed over a second economic rescue program for Greece and U.S. consumer spending stalled in December, raising concern that economic growth and fuel demand will slacken.
Crude prices for March delivery fell 78 cents, or 0.8%, to settle at $98.78 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Prices are down 5 cents this month. Brent oil for March dropped 71 cents, or 0.6% to $110.75 a barrel on the London-based ICE Futures Europe exchange.
