The approval follows extended field testing across multiple engine platforms. Duron Advanced 5W-30 is now cleared for use in Volvo 13L Euro 6 Step D engines and 2021-and-newer Mack MP8 engines.
“These OEM approvals reflect the strength of our technology and development teams,” said Melissa Mastrocola, business segment manager for transportation at Petro-Canada Lubricants, in a release..
“Few fluids today are recommended for these modern engines, which underscores the quality of this product.”
Fuel Economy and Engine Protection
Petro-Canada Lubricants reports that Duron Advanced 5W-30 can deliver fuel economy gains of up to 0.5% compared to VDS-4.5/EOS-4.5 approved fluids. Formulated to exceed API FA-4 requirements, the oil is designed to reduce friction and viscous drag while maintaining wear protection.
For fleets seeking additional approved options, Petro-Canada Lubricants will continue offering its VDS-4.5/EOS-4.5-approved 5W-30 products: Duron UHP 5W-30, Duron UHP E8-X 5W-30 for North America, and Duron UHP-E 5W-30 for EMEA.
