Epes Carriers Inc., of Greensboro, N.C., announced the merger of its two asset-based trucking subsidiaries, Epes Transport System of Greensboro, and Texas Star Express of Rockwall, Texas.

The combined company will be called Epes Transport System with headquarters remaining in Greensboro.
Texas Star will become the company's Southwestern division of Epes Transport, operating a major terminal in Rockwall, with recruiting, sales, safety, operations and maintenance support staff.
The combined company, employing approximately 1,500 employees, will consist of 1,150 power units and 4,000 trailers providing service to the Eastern two-thirds of the U.S.
