Nascar’s schedule spans 36 points races across the U.S., and each week the organization relies on its truck fleet to move critical race equipment, technology, and facilities from track to track -- on time, every time.

As part of the deal, Nascar is refreshing its fleet with 11 all-new Mack Pioneer 76-inch High-Roof Sleeper models.

The new trucks are set to debut during Speedweeks at Daytona International Speedway Feb. 11–15, leading into the 68th running of the Daytona 500.

A New Mack Hauler Lineup

The Pioneer additions mark the latest evolution of Nascar’s Mack hauler lineup, which started with Mack Pinnacle models in 2016 and shifted to Mack Anthem models in 2018.

Nascar said six Anthem models will remain in service alongside the new Pioneers to support operations throughout the season.

“For nearly a decade, Mack has proudly served as the Official Hauler of Nascar, and this partnership extension reinforces our shared commitment to performance, reliability and excellence,” Jonathan Randall, president of Mack Trucks North America, said in a statement. “The Mack Pioneer represents the most advanced highway truck we’ve ever built, and there's no better stage to showcase its capabilities than NASCAR’s demanding schedule.”

Mack positions the Pioneer as its most aerodynamic and fuel-efficient highway truck to date.

The OEM claims the new truck gets up to an 11% fuel-efficiency improvement compared with previous models.

Nascar’s custom-spec’d Pioneer models are powered by the Mack MP13 engine. It is rated at 515 hp and 1,900 lb.-ft. of torque, and paired with the Mack mDRIVE 12-speed overdrive automated manual transmission.

A Focus on Driver Comfort

For a fleet that lives on the road, Nascar also leaned into driver comfort. The 76-inch high-roof sleeper configuration includes Mack’s FlexSuite system with premium mattresses, designed to make long weeks and late nights more manageable during a season that stretches across 10 months.

Safety tech is another major piece of the spec. Nascar said each truck is equipped with Mack Protect Premier, the OEM’s top ADAS package, including forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane change support on both passenger and driver sides.

The fleet also adds a digital mirror system. These are cameras housed in pods replacing traditional side mirrors. They are aimed at improving visibility and aerodynamics, along with the Mack Integrated Parking Cooler for emissions-free cabin cooling during rest periods.

“Mack Trucks has been an essential partner behind the scenes of Nascar for nearly a decade, delivering the reliability and performance required to keep our sport moving week after week,” said Michelle Byron, Nascar executive vice president and chief partnership and licensing officer. “As we extend this partnership and welcome the new Mack Pioneer models into our fleet, we’re continuing to invest in best-in-class equipment that supports our industry and the demanding logistics of our season.”
