Mack Trucks has announced a new safety and productivity system for Granite model vocational trucks. Dubbed Mack Commandview, the system was announced during ConExpo-Con/Agg 2026, held March 3–7 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

CommandView is a fully integrated situational-awareness system intended to reduce blind spots and help drivers maneuver in complex work environments such as construction sites, tight urban corridors and busy loading areas.

“Mack customers told us about the many challenges they face when on a jobsite, whether they’re blind spot issues or just maneuvering around other vehicles and objects,” said Nicole Portello, senior vice president and chief digital officer at Mack Trucks. “Every job site comes with a different set of challenges. We listened to customer input, and we’re now delivering technology that helps improve safety and productivity through CommandView -- setting the stage for what’s next in connected vehicle technology.”

360-Degree Visibility

At the core of the system is a 360-degree camera setup that stitches together multiple camera feeds to create a bird’s-eye composite view around the truck.

Mack said the system helps mitigate blind spots created by vocational truck characteristics such as high ground clearance, long hoods and specialized body configurations.

Angled side-view cameras automatically activate with turn signals to improve lateral visibility during lane changes and turns, helping reduce the risk of sideswipe incidents and collisions with pedestrians, equipment or property.

CommandView can also integrate with vehicle controls, automatically adjusting camera views based on gear selection to provide forward, rear or side visibility as needed.

Optional features include audible and visual warnings when people or objects are detected within close proximity to the vehicle.

Designed for harsh jobsite environments, the system layers sensor data over live camera feeds to provide additional situational awareness.

Event-based video recording can be triggered automatically or manually, with footage stored in the cloud to support fleet oversight and incident review.

The platform can also generate overload alerts and other compliance safeguards intended to protect equipment, extend component life and reduce unplanned maintenance.

“Safety, uptime and predictability are central to the success of our customers’ businesses,” said Ashish Sadhu, Mack director of services. “CommandView supports our customers’ needs by pairing intelligent sensing with intuitive driver-centric design.”

Real-Time Payload and Job Data

CommandView also includes an onboard weighing system compatible with all axle configurations, providing real-time load data to help fleets optimize payloads while maintaining weight compliance.

Integrated navigation can recommend routes based on truck specifications, potentially reducing detours to weigh stations and lowering fuel consumption.

The system also provides roof-mounted LED indicators and in-cab displays to help loader operators and drivers coordinate loading in real time.

Mack said the platform can automatically generate digital job summaries that capture cycle data, timestamps and payload information, reducing administrative work and helping fleets track revenue per load.

Mack said it piloted the CommandView system with CRH, a building materials supplier, in early 2025.

“Safety is the No. 1 priority at CRH,” said Sam Dougherty, fleet manager of the company’s Mid-South Region Architectural Product Group. “Any tool that we can give our drivers to be more safe, that’s a win.”
