A new law in Oklahoma spells out goals to have CNG fueling stations located along the Interstate highway system in the states.


The Oklahoma Energy Security Act's goal is "to reduce the dependence of Oklahoma and the United States on foreign oil, to improve the security of the United States in the world and to improve the economic well-being of the citizens of Oklahoma."

Included are specific provisions to promote public access to compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling stations in the state. The law sets a goal to have at least one public CNG fueling station located approximately every 100 miles along the entire interstate highway system in the state by the year 2015, and every 50 miles by the year 2025.

The bill directs the Department of Central Services through the Fleet Management Division to take steps to meet this goal, saying it can do it by cooperating with or entering into partnership agreements with private entities.
