Rand McNally Devices to Integrate with Drivewyze PreClear Service
TCA, GRAPEVINE, TX -- Truckers and fleets using Rand McNally’s fleet management devices will be able to make use of Drivewyze’s PreClear scale bypass service under an agreement announced by the two companies on Monday at the Truckload Carriers Association annual meeting.
The Drivewyze system allows drivers to pre-clear weigh station requirements before reaching the scale. Its open platform allows it to run on a number of devices, including Android tablets and smart phones, which makes it an attractive option for some truckers, said Tom Colby, senior vice president business development at Drivewyze.
The integration with Rand McNally, means that messages from the pre-clear system will be displayed on either Rand McNally’s TN 760 fixed display or on a tablet wirelessly connected to the company’s TN 100 device.
Jim Rodi, senior vice president mobile communications at Rand McNally, said the company continues to seek out technology partners to extend the value of their mobile communications devices.
Currently, PreClear is available for bypass at 272 locations in 20 states and is aiming for full U.S. coverage in 2014.
