EZE Trucking, which provides trucking and logistics for the infrastructure, energy and industrial markets, along with the private equity firm Atlantic Street Capital, have acquired Rig Runners, a heavy haul and over dimensional trucking company.
According to a release, the combination of EZE and Rig Runners creates one of the largest national specialty hauling and logistics businesses in the country.
Founded in 1982, Houston-based Rig Runners provides specialized heavy and line haul freight and logistics operations to national energy and industrial customers, primarily in the Texas market.
EZE Trucking operates in the specialized side of the trucking industry, focusing on heavy and over dimensional loads that can exceed legal tonnage, width, height and length and require specialized route planning, permitting and escorts. EZE also provides its customer specialized LTL services in the western U.S. and logistics services across the country and into Canada and Mexico.
The combination of EZE and Rig Runners will include 16 terminals, over 700 trailers and 400 power units and drivers.
EZE Trucking was acquired in 2009 by Atlantic Street Capital and in 2011, EZE broadened its trucking operations with the acquisition of Patterson Motor Freight, a specialized trucking company focused on the oil and gas industry.
