The Intermodal Assn. of North America (IANA) announced that Schneider National has been selected as a co-recipient of the 2002 IANA Intermodal Achievement Award.
George Baima, IANA chairman, presented the awards at the annual Freight Transportation awards luncheon during IANA's annual membership meeting and International Intermodal Expo taking place in Anaheim, Calif., this week. Chris Lofgren, Schneider National president and chief executive officer, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Schneider National was recognized for its industry leadership and significant commitment to promoting intermodal transportation. Schneider National launched its intermodal offering 10 years ago beginning with rail containers. It expanded rapidly into trailers with its TruckRail service. Schneider National continued expansion of its intermodal offering with its OptiModal product, featuring exclusive 53-foot OPSU containers. In 2001, TruckRail Express was launched providing premium intermodal service. Schneider National also is recognized for its strong partnerships with the railroads and for working side-by-side with railroad staff to route freight and coordinate the best transportation options for its customers.
"Schneider is committed to the growth of intermodal as a high-quality, reliable and competitive offering that provides shippers a practical alternative for reducing their transportation costs while improving intermodal service," said Lofgren. "IANA's recognition of our efforts to deliver 'more than truckload' and promote the growth of intermodal freight is a tremendous honor."
