The effects of last week’s storms lingered across the Midwest heading into the weekend.
The Indiana Department of Transportation announced it had closed an “extensive number” of roads as a result of flooding statewide. The agency said that crews had placed barricades and “high water” signs in flooded areas. A list of closed roads on the department’s web site included closures in 22 Indiana counties.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation posted a similar notice on its web site Friday. PennDOT announced 45 closings in 13 counties, all state roads.
No major Interstates were among the closings.
Meanwhile, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet carried a notice that an earlier storm had cost the state $7.1 million to deal with.
It just might be an expensive winter.
