Truck traffic at the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, Calif., is expected to double in the next 20 years.
That's according to a study done by the ports and reported in the Daily Breeze newspaper. The report indicated the number of container trucks is expected to grow from about 35,000 a day to nearly 83,000 a day by 2020.
A coalition of groups is already working on ways to address congestion problems at the port. The West Coast Waterfront Coalition's first proposal will look at extending gate hours.
