Verizon Telematics has announced availability of ELD-ready bundles aimed at fleets searching for a solution ahead of the FMCSA's ELD mandate deadline later this year.
The company said the bundles are designed to meet certain technical specifications and serve as a one-stop shop for the needs of fleets with different requirements. Customers can choose from a number of different bundles for hardware and monthly software subscription pricing that includes what drivers and fleets need to comply with the new rules.
Available products include telematics hardware and installation, onboarding assistance, ELD and driver vehicle inspection reporting software, two-way messaging, in-cab tablet mount, electronic tablet, mobile device management software, compliance reporting, and more. Connectivity for the tablet and telematics is provided through the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.
“The impending ELD mandate can cause a lot of confusion and even panic for large enterprise fleets and small businesses – it’s a very complicated and arduous process but businesses required to meet the mandate have to get there by Dec. 18,“ said Kelly Frey, vice president, product marketing for Verizon Telematics. “By combining hardware and software, plus components that satisfy the needs of the back office and the driver, we not only help customers meet their compliance requirements, but can also help save them a huge amount of legwork on the front end.”
Additionally, Telogis, which was acquired by Verizon last year, is releasing a new mobile app called Telogis Spotlight that's designed as a free companion app to the Telogis Fleet Solution. The app features analytics on key performance indicators along with access to vehicle, driver, customer and job site data.
The information is delivered through dashboards and real-time activity alerts to help fleets find opportunities to save money and streamline performance. Weekly emails will also help users monitor performance and spot trends in the categories of safety, fuel efficiency and vehicle health. Telogis Spotlight will be available to all Telogis Fleet users for iOS and Android devices beginning in May.
“With Telogis Spotlight, managers can configure push notifications and get alerted right away about things such as a speeding driver, a late delivery, or a vehicle’s engine coolant that’s running hot,” said Mark Wallin, vice president, product management at Telogis. “The ability to monitor resources and react throughout the day makes a big difference when it comes to the bottom line.”

ACT Research data shows volumes hitting a four-year high and supply-demand balance strengthening, but higher oil prices are undercutting tariff relief and tempering optimism.

More than 100,000 new trucking companies enter the industry each year, but regulators manage to audit only a fraction of them.
