West Side Transport's Thornton Dixon Reaches 4 Million Accident-free Miles
West Side Transport announces that Thornton Dixon has reached 4 million incident/accident-free miles. Dixon has been with West Side Transport since March 10, 1981, and is from Anderson, S.C.

To put this accomplishment in perspective, one would have to drive around the earth 160 times without an accident or incident. With today's congested roads, construction, detours, and weather patterns, it is difficult to reach one million accident-free miles, let alone four million.
On Oct. 9, Dixon was presented a $10,000 check by company president & CEO Don Vogt, as well as CFO John Dalrymple, and COO Frank Gambish at a reception held in his honor at the company headquarters in Cedar Rapids, IA.
"I always think about what someone else might do, and I take things one day at a time," Dixon said. He started driving big trucks back in 1973 after learning from his older brother. He also went to truck driving school in Atlanta, Ga. He believes he's driven over 200 different trucks, all makes & models during his career. He has never had an accident or incident in a truck even before companies started keeping records.
West Side Transport, headquartered in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is a dry-van carrier operating a fleet of 550 late model power units and 2,100 dry-van trailers throughout the United States.
