Carriers and drivers are gearing up to deliver wreaths wreaths to be placed on the graves of veterans across the country this Saturday, Dec. 13, as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Program.
In 2013 alone, more than 500,000 wreaths were delivered to almost 900 veterans cemeteries across the United States. Since 2012, the Truckload Carriers Association has coordinated this nationwide effort of donated trucking services for the delivery of the wreaths, as well as raised money for the placement of wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery.
The American Trucking Associations' Share the Road truck will deliver a shipment of handmade wreaths as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Tour. The truck will leave from Harrington, Maine, on Dec. 13 and drive to Arlington National Cemetery.
The convoy will be making stops along the way to educate the public about trucking safety and the mission of Wreaths Across America.
Earlier this year, Mack Trucks donated a Mack Pinnacle Axle Back sleeper to the Share the Road safety program.
“We’re very proud that our Share the Road truck, as well as dozens of trucks and drivers from ATA member companies, are doing what they can during the holiday season to help remember and honor those who gave what President Lincoln called ‘the last full measure of devotion,’” said Bill Graves, ATA president and CEO.
